Lectures, Presentations and Demonstrations

On request I give lectures, presentations and demonstrations of GnuRadio, the USRP and Software Defined Radio.

Dutch presentation: "GnuRadio, voor iedereen"; het Weverke, 16 march 2006, Schimmert.

The USRP

The USRP (Universal Software Radio Peripheral) is the most used hardware component to do Software Defined Radio with GnuRadio.
The Universal Software Radio Peripheral, or USRP was developed by the Opensource Community to be used as wideband software radio in combination with a standard PC. In essence, the USRP functions as a digitale baseband and Intermediate Frequency Section of a Radio Communicatie System.

The Basic principle behind the USRP is that all waveform specific signal processing, like modulation, demodulation and filtering, is done in software on the host computer. All generic fast operations, like digital up- and downconversion, decimation and interpolation is done on the FPGA of the USRP.

Ordering

Olifantasia is an European USRP reseller.

On request I can also deliver modified special versions of the USRP which can do more then the standard USRP. It is also possible to have special firmwareversions developed.

Ordering can be done by our Contact form or by email.

Just mail me the list of requested components.

See the next link for USRP prices and Specifications

About me

My name is Martin Dudok van Heel. Olifantasia is my company.

I am an experienced Electronics Engineer, Programmer and Radio Amateur, with a preference for Open Source. My main focus is on working on GnuRadio, the opensource Software Defined Radio toolkit, and the USRP.

Several Organisations are using GnuRadio and the USRP and I use my experience and knowledge to do development and consulting work for them
I have developed special versions and adaptations of GnuRadio. I also built specialized firmware for the USRP (verilog firmware and hardware) to make it possible to use multiple USRPs in a Phase-locked fashion (MIMO, Phase-array)

In the little spare time I have, I do my own GnuRadio experiments.

GPGPU, GnuRadio on your videocard

On of my projects is running GnuRadio on a videocard (GPU) in stead of on the CPU by using GPGPU processing. The Nvidia CUDA Toolkit is used for this.

For the latest version of the code see:
GPGPU GnuRadio CUDA code
GPGPU GnuRadio CUDA readme
GNURadio plus CUDA WIKI
Note that the url of the (old) svn server has changed from gnuradio.org to nyquist.gnuradio.org.
To check out the gpgpu code use:
